Focal vs Alpine New guy needs advice.

Ok so I have narrowed it down to these 3 comp. Focal iss130, Focal ps130, Alpine spr 60. All from Crutchfield. Currently running an Alpine cde 134hd. Plan to amp them at a later time. My musical taste varies but mostly classic rock, country and alternative.

I think if those are your options that you'd like choose the Focal ISS-130's. Since you're purchasing from Crutchfield if you don't like them, simply return them with no questions asked and try a different pair.

i'm a fan of the Type-R speakers. They are well built and have a good sound to them.

go with what ever sounds best once amped....... or just go with what you like the sound of most.

i like Boston Acoustics and Eclipse speakers also - too bad they got out of the business of car audio.

Focal is probably better of the two. The last gen Alpine Type Rs were ok, but with mediocre bass handling, while the new ones got worse in most retrospects. Currently, Alpine's best products are the amplifiers and the subs IMHO. For the speakers, I'd go with JBL MS-62C, Morel Maximo, Focal Polyglass (any), or Hybrid Audio Unity... whichever fits the budget and tastes.
