So if my amp could put out 180 watts to each set of speakers the focals could handle it? I'm not saying the amp can but if it could, would the focals be able to take it?

Yup, headroom is good and music is dynamic. They'll pretty much never see full power anyway.

I always run 3 or 4 times rated power on my mids and highs.

I should of clarified, that's the RMS rating.

It should, as long as you set the gain to -0db or -3db with an oscilloscope you should be good.
