Focal 165 K2P Upgraded Version or Rainbow CMX 265 Kicks?

I just sold my MX6 and purchased a Firebird. I sold the Boston Pros on ebay so now I need some new components. I use no rear fill and the comps will be hooked up to the amp in my sig so there will be plenty of power. I really have no idea how either of these speakers sound and my original choice was the Polk SR6500 but the guy wont be able to get them for me for the price he said he would ($295). I listen to only rock and I really got tired of the harsh tweeter on my bostons. Not too long ago I purchased some NHT SB3s for my room and these speakers are incredible. These speakers seem to be the reference point of all sound for me. What do you guys recomend? Im guessing I can spend up to 400 shipped.

IMO focals had a pretty harsh tweet, thats why not my favorite. Of those I would go with Rainbow, but also look at Hertz line or Pioneer Premier 720, or the OZ

The PPI 356cs are modeled after the Polks you mentioned. Would save you some clams also.

Focal, i'm not sure where so many people are getting harsh tweeters, but I guess it's just a difference of opinion. They have some of the best tweeters I've ever heard. Though I guess my opinion is also limited to the TLR's and the Be's on a personal side. I don't remember hearing anything harsh when they were on the wall though. Focal is the brand that will go in all my daily drivers as they are already in my competition vehicle (sig).

I purchased a set of used Focal Poly's and was told from some members on here the tweets were harsh. After installing them and doing a little tweak & tune here and there, I think they sound good. Not the best I ever heard, but they do sound good to me.

And I too, listen to nothing but Rock & Roll.
