Foam Enclosure?

Anyone ever done an enclosure purely out of foam? Anyone know how it would sound? I have a 95 Ford f-250 and i took out the armrest and it has a block of foam about 12'(width) by 12'(length) by 5'(depth). I was thinking of maybe getting one from the junkyard and trying just to mount the sub right into the foam. My thinkign is it will be muffled and put out a minimal amount of bass but if anyone has done this please let me knwo how it came out.

I've never done it, and probably won't ever do it.

Just use wood or fiberglass. I know the foam enclosure sounds like a cool idea, but you'd probably blow it to itty bitty pieces.

just get one from the junkyard, and cover the whole thing with fiberglass and make a baffle for your sub to be mounted on...

then when the fiberglass has cured, pour some kinda chemical solvent (paint thinner?) into the foam so it will disintagrate.

drain it\scrape it all out, put a few more layers of fiberglass on, and continue building it the way you would a normal fiberglass box, cept you need to screw it into the arm rest location before you mount the sub i would imagine. dont forget to sound deaden all the stuff round it, i would guess it would vibrate the hell outta whatever its mounted to.

should be quite simple really.

I really wouldn't recommend it... even if you did glass an enclosure to that shape/dimensions it would yield very little volume for the sub... probably only enough for a single sealed 8.

As far as mounting the sub; the foam is a solid block so once i inset the sub in the foam i would think it would mount somewhat and witht he carpet holding it tight it should stay but i think the fiberglass is a good idea thanx and yea i agree that i can only use a small 8 i have to look at stats on some 8's to see what siz enclosure they need thanx for every1's help
