Went fishing with my dad and my kid around town here. We went to this spot where freshwater and salt water mix, I believe it's called brachious water. Anyhow I hooked something pretty big, but it broke my line. Other than that my dad caught two small snapper. There were lots of things to see.

How big are manetees?
Hmm, they are big, bigger than a dog, but smaller than a cow. Probably a good 6 ft long and weighing over 600 lbs I would guess. There were 15 or so of them where we were fishing. When we were leaving there were two big thrashes in the water, didn't see what it was, but it didn't seem like it came from the manatees, they are slow moving. This thrash sent ripples way across the water from one bank to the other. There are some pretty big alligators in there I suppose, but the one I saw was probably about 6ft.

Big enough to make you $hit your pants if your wading while fishing and run into one. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif But very gentle animals by nature. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah as a matter of fact there are, or so I've heard. The big fish I hooked that snapped the line, we think was a snook. Judging by the wake it made near the surface, I'd assume it was a good 2.5 to 3 ft long. Some guys near us were catching jacks one right after another. I've heard of tarpon being caught a mile or 2 closer to the river from where we were. So I'd assume they probably make there way up to where I was fishing. Basically the area I was fishing at is a dike. The city I live in floods very easily. Many years ago they built a dike around the city and that is part of it. If you look at the pic you can tell. So anyhow this waterway channels the water from the city/lakes/etc out to the indian river and into the ocean.

If you're brave enough to go in the water with the alligators I'm sure the manatees would let you pet them.
