One of my favorite wading spots is in clearwater . Sand key actually, We wade about chest deep. Been bumped a couple of times by a manatee. First time I was scared $hitless. To be honest, I rarely ever fish. My dad usually takes my kid and he's been wanting me to go, so I went, enjoyed it and will be going again. We were using minows and jigs. The guys next to use were catching jacks off jigs, and my dad caught the two snapper off minows, and the big fish I hooked was off a minow.

I use to fish a lot when I was younger, but then as I grew up and became more involved with sports. But I remember countless nights at the river shrimping and fishing. Sometimes we went and it was so cold. But I'll never forget two nights when the shrimp were everywhere. As fast as you could dip the net in, you'd pull out 3,4, or 5 shrimp, and then go back down for more. Another night the jumbo shrimp were running like crazy. I remember going home with 2-5 gallon buckets full of shrimp, and that didn't count the shrimp we gave away. The night the jumbo's were running we caught over 200 of them.

If you're brave enough to go in the water with the alligators I'm sure the manatees would let you pet them.

Dont do it anywhere near an FWC officer...they ticketed me for riding one on a high school biology field trip...it was the funniest thing ever
