First try at fiberglass door pods

The only thing i would have tried different is sealing them in. You might still want to try to find a way to do that if i ever get time ill post pics of my pods for 2 kicker SS 6.5 components in my front doors.

Spot putty is not the same as bondo. Its made for filling pin holes not structure or build up.
True true so after you get done spot putting i would throw another layer of glass over the top of it and sand that down that will keep it in tact and strong as hell.

Ok well the 2 pods somehow got messed up when we stretched the material...

So we cut it down, fiberglassed it and went back over it with bondo to make them more even...

nice work.. but gotta say man thats not bondo (thats finsh fill) stuff you shouldnt half to use unless ur ready for paint and have some very small low spot! but gotta ask how much of that stuff did you use? ha

It will sound just fine not sealed
And like stated, dont use glazing putty for anything more than pinholes it will lift with vibration (been there done that)
It won't have the mid bass punch if he doesn't.Yes it will sound alright if you just want highs but if you want decent mid bass responce I would cover the mesh.

That depends on the drivers themselves. Most will have better low end response playing into the door and not tiny sealed pods. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well from my experiance that is what I would do.
Just my .02:)

Same thing my man, just offering my schillings worth of advice from my personal experience. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

lol no, thats when we cut the corner off because of the misshape on that pod, and there was a gaping hole there, so i fiberglassed it from the inside, filled with bondo from the outside, and then bondo's back some more on the inside.

In order to answer your question, I would need to know what model (e.g. SW4200, SW7524DVC). Also, are you looking to make a ported box or sealed?

The best thing you can do is make a solid plan. This way you won't be spending money twice and having to keep going back in add or replace parts.

No reason you couldn't just glue a ring of plywood up under there then paint it with some bedliner or plasti-dip or similar to keep the elements...
