First timer - home audio help

I'm pretty handy when it comes to car audio but I know absolutely nothing about home audio. I want to build my first system but I'm not to sure where to start. MY budget is around 500-800 dollars. I'm looking for something I can hook up to my computer and have pretty heavy bass. Any recommends on where I should start?

We need more info....do you have a receiver? Does your computer have a decent sound card? How much room do you have? Music preference? Etc, Etc...

I do not have a receiver, my computer doesnt have a decent sound card but I can get one, and I have a decent amount of room for 2 towers, music will most likely be dance music - its going to be behind the bar in my room at my fraternity house.

Hmmmm....Loud party music eh? In that case I don't know of the little 3 inch full rangers will be enough, although its a killer suggestion by PV audio...
You definitely want something that can handle a lot of power. You have room as you say but budget is fairly limited for something like line arrays hehe...
