First Time Sound System

Hey i was just wondering about some idea's about a sound system for my first car im looking to spend about $1,000 AUD i think thats $500-$600 US and looking for nice power but good sound as well and not necassirily a band name and was wondering about ideas of what to go for. Im also not quite sure how to go about amps and how they work i was wondering how a 4 chanell amp works could a 4 chanell have 5 or 6 speakers and maybe 1 sub or 2?

You mean $500-600 on the whole system? WIth $500-600 you should just add some bass to your factory system. ANd maybe cough up a little more for a decent h/u with some preamp outs. Heres some brands you can't go wrong with PPI, JL audio, Alpine. Look on ebay for a amp and sub. You can always upgrade later. Buying cheap car audio components defeats the purpose. It may cost a couple hunderd $ just to have it professionally installed. ANd doing it yourself can take up a lot of time even if you know what your doing. You might want to go to a shop and have them give you some ideas based on your budget and your car.

do you mean on a whole system? if so dont bother. its possible but trust me, you want to get it done right the first time, not only the installation but the products you buy also. Try to keep away from sony(everything except home audio) and kenwood(everything except hu's) save up a few hundred more and then consider getting a system

id go with this setup as well. but i would save up a bit more to get a better deck, and a couple Kx's over just 1. But that would be a **** good setup for the price.
