made template out of 3/16" birch... made baffle, 2.5" pegs gives me 3.25" mounting depth, secured to door by 8 t-nuts, 3 layers of glass and a bondo/resin milkshake final coat, painted with fleckstone stuff... any questions or comments are welcome

btw for an 02 crown vic

I prefer door pods to look more factory than that, but other than that, they look pretty good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i they are actually angled just a touch... anything is better than the factory speaker location, its a 5x7 and its located above the arm rest all the way forward... so far forward that if you take the door panel off you'll see that at least 1/3 of the speaker actually fires directly into the side of the dash.

I thought about trying to keep it factory looking... but the police interceptor blue door panels are so **** ugly to begin with that i didn't want to make them even worse if i fubared the glass job.

i know they are plain and nothing special, but they are solid and came out better than i thought they would for my first glass job

i would have liked to modeled them after someone elses crown doors, but the only ones i could find this kid did the whole **** door... so hopefully this will give someone else an idea for simple door pods for a crown vic or grand marquis

I don't think you did a bad job, man. I would've wrapped them, but that's just a personal preference type of thing...
i honestly thought about it... but i can't even carpet a box without it turning out fubar... im decent with bondo and paint so i stick to what i can at least produce as presentable

it was a good learning experience... i learned that i don't mind bulding boxes for other people... but anyone ever asks me for fiberglass work im going to tell them to go away lol, honestly on a difficulty scale i'd give it a 5-6 not that difficult if you pay attention to detail... just time consuming, even on the second one when i'd had practice with the first, you spend half the time of the build just sanding away
