First Time Building A Box

Box is 2.248 cubic ft net. Outer dimensions 31W x 15H x 16.25D, double baffle and second back wall because I need to mount the amps to it. Not doing flush mount cause Ill probably change the sub (RE SRX 12D2) soon. The 2nd baffle is internal.

Port is 2.5W x 13.5H x 36.25L according to RE's calculator. I thought you measure port lenght by going straight down the middle of it, which I come up with 34.25. The first port piece is 11.5W and the second one is 19.5W.

Had Lowes do all the major cutting. Luckily only one piece came out bad, and it was just over a little so I was able to just sand it down to size.

Used a jigsaw for the sub cutout. Took a small plank, drilled a hole in the center and one 5.5in away, put a screw through the center one and a pencil through the other to get my 11in circle. Of course RE was wrong about the circle cutout size for their own sub though lol. Needed about another 1/8th sanded off before it fit, then a little extra cause Im going to stuff the carpet in there.

Was going to try to cut 45s with the jigsaw since it can tilt, but probably wouldnt cut it straight enough, and not worth the headache.

I usually **** at painting stuff but I actually took my time painting the port, and that part came out really good. About 5 layers of grey primer, 5 layers of paint, then light sanding and repeated.

All I got left to do tomorrow is pre-drill, then glue and screw it together. How far apart should the screws be? I know to stay about 2in away from the corners, just not sure how far apart when going in the the width of the board. And when I connect the two baffles and the two back pieces, should I just do a random screw here and there?

Just about finished. Just have to carpet it once the glue is dry. Ended up running out of glue when all I had left was the top piece. Ended up using about 10oz of glue and 3oz of liquid nails.

Finished it up and installed today, will put up some pics tomorrow. Im still messing around with the orientation. Tried all the way against the back, close to the trunk lid facing away from the rear seats, and it sounded good, just wasnt really that loud. Flipped it over facing the back seats but left it pushed back and it sounds great and gets loud too. Im only giving it 225w right now, and it sounds better and louder then the two SA-10s I had. Im guessing the box orientation was wrong when I had them, and this box has a lot more internal air for the sub. Ordering a ONX1500 tonight, going to feed it 500w till it dies then look for something louder that will work with this box.

Got some pics with the new amps installed.

Pushed up against the back seats kills the sound, but my ground wires arent long enough to reach with its pushed back. Probably going to have to order some more wire.
