First time building a box

use lots of clamps. the more the better. i have a lot so i can get one on about every 3 inches. wood glue and screws to put the box together and silicone on the inside edges to help seal. lots of box building "how to"s online to help out.

yea i read a couple of them, except i dont get the whole clamp thing. I understand if your trying to glue two pieces together, but not on the 90 degree angle. I know its such a noob question. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif How do you make it so they stay together?

on a ported box like that i would do 2 chambers i would just build the box as one whole box and keep it simple lol, but if thats what u want man go for it, remeber take your time and measure, measure, measure and when u think its enough measure one more time and only cut once. use some good glue, sealer and braid nails i braid nail all my boxes before i screw them together gives them that added strengh. but most of all man take your time and have fun doing it cause ain't nothing like building your first box lol.

The reason im doing two chambers is because i had the original sledgehammer box, but i had to cut it to fit my trunk. Now im thinking of just taking out the backseat and re-doing a box specially designed for the subs. The old sledgehammer had this really cool looking front board that i wish to keep, so im doing the same specs, just making it longer.

Trust me, double chamber has no benefits beyond cosmetic. Just go single.
Other than saving one speaker if the other fails. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

But to the op go single for sure

I guess i could try a single chamber first and if i have some wood left, the double chamber.

EDIT:

The box would be 42 x 15.5 x 16 with a 4" slot port. This is what i got from the RE box builder: 4.17 ft^3 @ 38.6

Thats without a second port turn, if i go with an L port, then the second board would be 1" and it'd give me: 4.137 ft^3 @ 38.1
