First System Wiring Advice

Question 1: I have an excessive amount of 4 gauge speaker wire. Will it hurt my 6 1/2 door speakers to wire them (from my amp) with such huge wire?

Question 2: Is 80 watts too much power for a speaker with 60 watts RMS?

This is what I've purchased (and haven't installed yet)

Amplifier: Profile AP1040.

» 80 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms

» 125 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms

» 225 watts RMS x 2 bridged output at 4 ohms

» 4-ohm stable in bridged mode

» 2-, 3-, or 4-channel output

» Tri-way capable (Tri-Way Crossover required)

» fuse rating: 30A x 2

» requires 4-gauge power and ground leads

Amp Installation Kit: 4 gauge wiring kit from Knuconceptz (too powerful I'm now thinking)

Subwoofer: Alpine Type R in a sealed box - 500 Watts RMS.

Door Speakers: Infinity 6012i (2-60 watts RMS)

H/U: Pioneer DEH-P4900iB (has 3 4volt preouts)

I have 20 feet of 4 gauge speaker wire com

4gauge wiring kit. Are you talking about the 20ft of 4gauge that you got from the wiring kit? If you are then most likely they are the power/ground wire not the speaker wire. 4gauge would be way too much hell even 8gauge is the biggest i'd ever go for subwoofer connections 12-16gauge for speaker connections. What amp are u using to power the subwoofer?

Here's the wiring kit I order from Knuconceptz

20 Feet 4 AWG Blue Kolossus Power Wire

3 Feet 4 AWG Silver Kolossus Ground Wire

One Waterproof Mini-ANL Fuse Holder with 120A Fuse

TWO 5 Meter Klarity Kable Blue OFC RCA Cable with Built in Turn On lead

20 Feet BLUE Klear Kable OFC 12 Gauge Speaker Wire

2 Gold Plated 4 AWG Ring Terminals, 2 Gold Plated 4 AWG Spade Terminals

I just didn't look closely enough...I guess I have 20 feet of 12 guage wire

As for the amp...I put the specs in my first post. Is 80 watts RMS to much for a 2-60 watt speaker?

this setup is going into a 1999 toyota tacoma extended cab.

You should be alright just set the gains on the amp appropriately.

As asked earlier, you are going to need an amplifier for the subwoofer...unless you are bridging that 4 channel amp?

12 gauge speaker wire is fine...
