Alright. Hey everyone im having a bit of a problem deciding on amps, hopefully u can help me out a bit. I'm trying to run Kenwood Deck KDC-MP228 to a pair of dual speakers with a 150 peak and a 50 rms and the rear speakers with 170 max and a 70 rms. in addition to that i am having a dual double subwoofer with enclosure with neons in the back, yes i hope u know the one i talk of. What amps do i need for this Do i need a 4 channel amp for the speakers and if so what wattage. And for the woofers i need a two chanel amp right? The subs have a 1100 max and a 600 rms , Impedence:4 ohms what is the best possible wattage for all of this. I'd like to add the four channel to the speakers just to sound better. And can someone explain how this ohms garbage works i dont get it at all. Many thanks:up2somet:

lol, as funny as it is... we should still help the guy out. I still consider myself a noob and I had those same questions with my 1st setup. However, I am confused about the dual double sub thing with neons... what does all that mean? If you told us that we could help a little more.

streeetraycer, I would suggest you look into a single sub setup. I've heard the Dual setup you are referring to, and even considered buying it myself when I was starting out. Im sure glad I didn't //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Im not going to help out anyone that calls themselves street racer boy.

then in their avatar they have a picture of a extremely wrecked car.

and says that is going to be him someday...

is that going to be my daughter in the other wrecked car?

Edit: ok I will help.. heres my advice "Use the great search feature this forum has!"

Yes, while his flaws are regrettable, that doesn't mean we shouldn't help him. We were all at this point once (well... maybe not this bad.. but probably relatively close) and someone had to help us somewhere.

First of all, ditch the Dual products. Dual is best buy's cheap excuse for "economy" audio. It is terrible. If money is an issue (just a guess since you're looking at all Dual products) then you should wait and maybe just buy one component at a time. For now maybe just buy the head unit... get a nice alpine (seeing as how you like to shop at best buy) and save your money for some good speakers later. The power ratings on those speakers and subs are ridiculous, and I think every one of us on the forum can vouch for the fact that you wont get anywhere near those ratings. You could put 150 watts to a single JL W0 and it would most likely put those Dual's with 600 watts to shame.

So, for now, buy a nice alpine/pioneer/panasonic head unit. Just stay away from Sony, Jensen, Dual, ESA, etc.

When you get some more cash buy some decent speakers (alpine/infinity/polk/kicker/etc)

Then when you get even more you can buy a 4channel, a sub amp, and some subs. But that's way down the road.

Ok,

Forget about that MAX power rating, It means dick. You're going to want a four channel amp that produces around 50 watts x4 @ 4ohms.

For the Sub amp, A mono amp that produces around 1000 watts will work.

An ohm in laymans terms is just a way to match your equipment. If you have a 4ohm speaker you match the speaker to an amp that produces the speakers RMS power @ 4ohms.

Oh and you have a lot to learn. You can't just go buy a bunch of speakers and not know how to install them.

Read this web site http://www.bcae1.com and read around on the forums. Learn before you even try to install/buy any equipment.

Yeah im deciding to drop the duals go for alpine speakers and idk the dual woofers do sound relatively good for the price. I decided for the headunit to go to pioneer as for 400 $ they have the power to pump 60 watts rms so its better than spending money on a new amp for that. to supply power to the woofers im getting a kenwood amp. thanks for the help and by the way the avatar was for comedy not the way i drive. And what does that have to do with helping me anyway.

Head Units do not produce 60 watts rms... At the most 14 watts x 4 rms. It is not a better option than a external amp.

As I said read the site I posted and search the forums. I can't go correcting every Newb tastic thing you say.
