You should do some research on car stereo imaging. First of all are u talking about installing this in a car, truck, or SUV? Most of us with decent systems don't use three-way speakers anymore like the 6x9's. Even on a low budget u can still buy some components, that would be that 6.5" mid-range speaker that comes with a seperate 3/4"-1" tweeter for the high range frequencies & a passive crossover. The 6.5, the tweeter,& the crossover together make up the component set witch should be installed up front in order for u to have correct imaging. Using components instead of two or three way speakers will usually give u better sound quality. Then towards the rear, back seat area, you mostly see coaxil speakers ,two way speakers, and some of them have crossovers as well. To put it simple,a crossover is a small device that filters out unwanted frequencies & divides the signal between two or more speakers. Then your subs should go in the far rear to handle the your bass. See u want to try & set up your system just as u see a band set up on stage. In a system with good imaging, you should be able to close your eyes and envision where the instruments are located on stage, from right to left. Just because u can't afford to buy the most expensive stuff out there don't mean u can't buy the right kind of speakers & install them in the right areas. Good luck shopping around, if I were u I would do some listening to diferent speakers to see what I like before I just go on someone's suggestion! Buy speakers u think sound good, not what someone else tells u sounds good!
