First system purchase

Alright. A lot of suggestions, thanks. But what exactly am I looking for in an amp?

For instance, the below is listed with the MB QUART amp:

475 Watt x 1 Channel @ 4 Ohm

750 Watt x 1 Channel @ 2 Ohm

1000 Watt x 1 Channel @ 1 Ohm

What is good, what should I be looking for? should I be looking for an amp with the most wattage for the buck? Seeing as watts are just a measure of power, I am assuming it has a lot to do with the quality of the amp.

Forget about those other post people are being WAY ridiculous about price and power..

how much bass do you really want? .but you can get big power for decent price..

i would suggest probably bout 400 for EVERYTHING wires and all (excluding deck) but the more you have available the btter the system can be there are some GREAT budget stuff out there.

So realistically what are you looking to spend?

you MIGHT even be happy with this

built in amp for the sub would sound good in a hatchback im sure be easy on the power system

Watts per dollar is good and all, but just like any piece of electronics it comes down to reputation, build quality,(kinda goes to rep) personal pref, any brand loyalty etc. Sub amps aren't gonna have much of a feature set, all they need is a low pass filter & preferably subsonic filter, most have those though.

first off i am a firm believer of go big the first time..after wasting a ton of moeny but you can get big power for decent price..

how are people being WAY RIDICOLOUS as you stated. everyone here has tried to help the OP. maybe he aint tryin to go huge like some others. he wants more of a conventional system. do you know his wants???

I am realistically able to spend what I said before, which I recall being 400-700. For everything. I dont mind going used.

If there is a solid other forum post about the questions I am asking, that would be awesome. I am not able to find anything solid though.

agreed 1k on a single 12 is not huge but will get the job done. plus it won't kill him on his electrical. just do the big 3

for subwoofers there is a section in the subwoofer discussion that is the "end all to which sub to get". something titled like that. but its got a few pages of different woofers. some are go big some are more budget conscious people. its a good place to look
