Tube amps are known for that. I'm almost certain my tube amp is short stable, but I'm not about to actually test it long enough to be sure.

It's funny that they'll drive a short, but once you turn it on without a load connected, gooooodbye output transformers. They don't like open circuits at all, will saturate the secondaries of the OPT's before you can yell "Oh shit!".

alpine 9813, infinity reference 6.5 components and 6x9's, 2 audiobahn alum 12's, jbl bp1200.1, jbl bp180.2. not too bad for the first one. actually got kinda loud

My first system consisted of:

Jensen CD Player

2 SPL tweeters (still use)

2 SPL 6.5s

Sony Xplod 222w amp

2 MTX Thunder 6000 10's in a prefab box

It sounded alright but I had to turn everything all the way up (amp, cd player, bass, treble) just to be able to listen to it at the level I wanted it.

Audiopipe Platinum battery terminals (+ and -) (0 guage/4 guage/2- 8 guage each)

Audiobahn 0 guage power line (from battery to trunk)

Stinger Fused Distribution box

Audiobahn 4 guage power lines (from fused distribution box to each amp)

Audiobahn 4 guage grounds (from amps to chassis)

Audiobahn 4 guage speaker lines (from 1500D to MAG D2)

Not too shabby for a first system.

HU + Speakers: Pioneer package at Wal-Mart

Subs: 2 10" Jensens in a bandpass box

Amp: 20w x 2 @ 4 ohm Jensen

Yeah, it wanged so hard that it shattered my windows, and the screeching highs from those co-axial Pioneer 6.5s was making me deaf. So that's why I downgraded to Tempests and JL XRs....but boy I miss my Jensens.
