my first system (and i still have a lot of the stuff) was an old sony (the first one with the rotary knob volume on it) cd player, infinity reference 4X6 rear, and 6.5 fronts, two kicker comp 12's, a fosgate punch 75(the old one that was actually good). i ran the infinity's off the deck. all this in a 92 ranger... hell, the boxes made me have to sit closer to the wheel, cause i couldnt slide the seat all the way back.

Road Gear 20x2@4ohm (doubt it even does 20w)

Stock speakers from a BMW 3-series

2 8" Pioneer in a small leaky sealed box.

Didn't even have a LPF on the amp.

Still today i have everything, except one 8" chopped up. I still use the road gear. Currently it is powering the 2 speakers and a 10w6 for now. Still have no LPF. Going from 800w+ down to

people do get surprise though. the 10w6 really sounds louder than I had expected.

Hmmm, FIRST system

-JVC 40x4 tape deck(the only cool thing about it is it talked....literally, it had a voice built in that would say shit).

After dealing with that crap for a while i stepped up...well sorta

-added another 10" 4000 in a truck box i built out of 5/8" particle board(leaked terribly and rattled, it was sealed with silicone and a hot glue gun :hilarious: )

-got a MTX Blue Thunder Pro 150x2 which REALLY helped things out tremendously.

i'm a newby but i'm on my first system and just recieved my liscense two days ago. I've got a 1995 montecarlo with eight 10"sony explods in the back seat area powered by a power acoustic gothic series 1600watt amp and a premier head unit. everything else is stock.

Class A all-vacuum tube single ended triode amplifier.

Did around 2wpc, but it liked low impedance (2 ohm) loads and my speakers weren't really efficient enough or low in impedance enough to suit it well. It would drive a dead short - I placed speaker wire across the terminals and it ran hot, but tried to drive it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Tube amps are known for that. I'm almost certain my tube amp is short stable, but I'm not about to actually test it long enough to be sure.
