First Setup

Hey guys,

Just need some help with creating my setup for my car, I have just over $1000AUD (Approx $880USD)

Car Info:

I own a Ford Falcon AU XR6 (Its an Australian model)

The Car has 4x 5x7 speakers stock and two tweeters in the b pillars.

Also has an LPG Tank in the boot/trunk as well.

What I want to run:

Kicker Dual 12" Comp R Subs (1600W RMS @ 2 Ohms)

Kicker CS684 6x8" Speakers in the rear and the splits in the front (All speakers are 75W RMS @ 4 Ohms)

Questions and Issues:

What Amps will power these Subs and speakers successfully without dramas, I've been recommended DS18 as an Amp brand.

Will the LPG system in the back be effected via the subs?

The 6x8" inch speakers will fit right into the car without a spacer, but would it be worth going 6" speakers and using a spacer?

Thanks guys!

Not sure what brands or underground austrailian car audio brands you have available to you but for your setup, you need a 4 channel amp AND a dedicated monoblock amp or else those subs wont bump.

For the system, just forget about spending money on the rear speakers man, they arent important as the front speakers. Most sound quality competition cars do not even have rear speakers anyways. Just get a small 50-75 watts rms 4 channel and amp your stock speakers(they will sound a lot different with proper power and they will handle that power fine) Use the rest of that money on a proper subwoofer amp like a kicker kx 1500.1 that does power at 2 ohms.

If you want the monoblock sub amp cheaper, instead of getting two 2 ohm dvc subs, get two 4 ohm dvc subs instead so you can wire to 1 ohm and get more power out of it.

To save more money, ditch the 2 12s and get a single 15 and properly power it with a 750-1000 watts rms amp( a lot cheaper). with a properly designed enclosure. Build your own box if you can, the boxes you buy premade are all garbage. You'll get a lot louder then 2 12s on crappy power.
