Hey, I'm finally looking to upgrade from my current setup. I don't want to spend alot of money becuause I'm going to be going to college this fall. I know its hard to do what I want with out a lot of money but I can get pretty close. I am going more for sound quality rather than making my ears bleed, but I want to be able to make some sound every once in a while. So with that said I have a pair of 5 1/4" Polk Audio MMC5250 on the way, now I need to pick out the low end of my system. This is where I need help, I think I want to go with 2 12" Alpine type R's ,I've read that these are good quality and I wont be spending alot of money on just being able to "bump". I need an amp I also read that Alpine severly under rates thier subs and that an Orion1200D would probably be good for both. What do you guys think? All input would be greatly appreciated.

welcome to the forum !Sounds like ull be having a good system.. Orion amps are very nice and have always heard great things bout them.. Have u decided to put them in a ported or sealed enclosure?

Probably going with sealed, since I want quality over loudness.

whew... $600-$800 Space is another issue... I'm going to be getting a newer car soon right now I have a 1993 dodge dakota, but I don't know what I'll be getting. Probably some cheap jap crap, but I need the better gas mileage.

not that type Rs sound bad as far as SQ goes...but myself along with the majority of the type R fans here would agree to not go sealed with type Rs...if i were u i would look into only buying one adn throwing that whole orion onto it (dont worry, it can take it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif)....and as far as yo ubox goes, you can either build your own, or if u do not do that, I personalyl would suggest tcab boxes...they are outstanding boxes and will give u ALL THE BUMP u want out of ONE sub...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

The type-r will only handle 1300 watts(//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif) in athe proper enclosure.

Not many people can do it daily.

Hello and welcome to the forum. 2 type R's will get nasty loud if u want. I have 1 12 ' alpine in my car and that is more than enough for me and I am a sq guy. Having said that, you could save some money and get just one type R. and spend less to power that sub. 1 12' will still get mighty loud if you want it too. Just a thought...
