Firefix has its own hotkeys?? how to edit them?? pissin me off

I just downloaded firefox mozilla browser as my IE was gay. Now when Im browsing the net, if I hit the back slash - question mark button, it goes into search mode and brings up a search bar at the bottom of the browser, but wont type the **** slash where Im typing

Its quite annoying, where do I edit this option, I cant find it

haha that sucks... I;ve had similar issues but just worked around them. So far so good with windows 7
