Finished my install in my 2005 F-150 SuperCrew:

Headunit: Alpine CDA-9887 w/iPod cable

Front stage: Boston Pro60s (separate and bi-amped)

Front stage amp: Alpine MRV-F545

Sub: Alpine SWX-1043D downfired in .72 ft.^3 sealed enclosure(net after sub displacement)

Sub Amp: Alpine MRD-M1005

No rear fill

75 ft.^2 of eDead on all 4 doors and rear wall

Egg carton foam behind mids and modeling clay used on mid templates

I have to say it sounds absolutely amazing. I have adjusted the xovers to make sure all the speakers are getting the appropriate signal but other than that everything is flat as of now- no TA or EQ adjustments as of yet. And it already sounds better than my previous setup:

Premier 880PRS

TS-C720PRS up front

TS-D681R in rear

Kicker CVX12

Kicker ZX850.4 running mids and highs

Kicker ZX1000.1 running sub

I couldn't be happier. The sound deadening is incredible. What a difference it makes! I am downfiring the sub in a box I built that goes between the center console and the rear seat. I snapped pics of the box build and the sound deadening and a few of the install so I will get them up as soon as I upload them. The bass is so tight and responsive- the SQ of the Type X is amazing. I can't believe how clean and low the response is for a 10" sub in a sealed box. Thanks to those on the forum with all their suggestions on deadening and component configurations. They really helped. I'll get pics up soon!

In the last post, the 2nd to last one is test fitting the box before we did the vinyl (which I found out I need a LOT more practice at... lol ) the last pic is after the vinyl is done. The amps are mounted under the back seat (upside down on the bottom of the seats) so they are out of sight. Everything looks pretty much stock and two people can still sit comfortably in the back seat. I need to snap a few of the components but there are a few pics for everyone //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

P.S. Sorry the pics are small/not that great quality. They were taken with my phone. 2.0mp doesn't turn out as great as I thought!

I can snap some with my digital tomorrow and post those... they should get quite a bit bigger //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I hate to say it, because the 880 is such a sweet unit, but man... the 9887 is sick. The faint engine noise I had with the 880 is completely gone for starters (tried redoing my ground and replacing the interconnect and could never figure it out). The sound quality is incredible. Like I said my EQ is flat; also, I haven't done the TA or anything else except adjust the xovers, and it sounds better than my 880 did even after doing AutoEQ and all the other adjustments. I've thought about grabbing the Imprint loaner from Crutchfield but I'm not sure how much better it could sound than it already does! If you went to the 9887 from the 880 you definitely wouldn't be disappointed.

One thing I can't figure out is how to access the Graphic EQ. I can get to the Parametric, but the owner's manual says the Graphic and Parametric are in the same menu, and I can't find it anywhere. Time to keep playing with it I guess.

That setup does seem very nice. I thought about upgrading to a type X myself in the future. I got a chance to play around with that new Alpine deck in a shop last weekend. It would seem to be a serious contender for me to get on a future system. That deck does look awesome. Glad your install turned out well for you!
