Ok, well my buddy had a Mustang about ten years ago that we had a lot of good times in and I want to find that car. Problem is about 3 yrs ago my buddy passed away.

Ive already talked to his mom and she threw away all of his old paperwork after he died. He traded the car to a local dealership for another vehicle.

So, does anybody know who would have the old records. Do Dealerships keep records 10yrs back? Will the DMV have the records? Will they release them to me or his mom? Any other Ideas?

I doubt the registry will release anything to you at all, your best bet might be either finding some old paperwork somewhere or maybe calling Jiffy Lube or one of those place if he had any type of service on it and see if they have any records.

What about his mom? If he is deceased would they release it to her. He was a minor when he owned the car.

If he was a minor it was probably in her name anyway so yes she would probably be able to get access to all of her old records. You might even be able to do it online depending on what state it was in.

just wondering...why do you want the car?
I rode to school in it everyday, dragged main street in it every friday night, went to dances in it ect. I loved that car and it became my dream car and Ive always wanted one. So I thought why not find his old car and rebuilding it instead of just buying another one. Kinda sentimental ya know. He always regreted getting rid of that car cause he made a bad trade but needed a four wheel drive and was desperate. I thought I would do it as a tribute to him.

who knows. maybe someone has it and just usin it as a beater..hopefully its not crushed

if you can get her to cooperate, it shouldn't be that hard. i'm sure her insurance company has records of it being insured...
good luck.
service records, where the car was bought, and pics with the license plate. if the plates stay with the car, you can find a cool cop that you know personally to run the plates.
