Finally made my sub decision.

I am sure you are leading me in the best direction possible to get the most out of my stereo but I really need a compromise between bumping and having a family and "normal" truck. I am trying to keep it as low profile as possible.
I really think a single beefy 10 would work better in your box rather than 2 8s in way less than adequate airspace and port area.

I agree if you can't get a box for these made to spec to fit a single 10" might be a better option
I can get it made to spec its more an issue of box and woofer placement. I had a 10" and a bunch of people said switch to 2 8's. I am working on something now so we will see how it comes out.

So I listened to everyones advice and tried to follow it as closely as possible given the parameters I had. The one big mistake I made is I put the port on the passenger side.... If I drove a JDM truck. I ended up getting the subs facing forward, I made a 4" aero port faced it close to the door albeit the drivers side. The box volume is 1.48 after subs displacement. I have to do a lot more messing around and listening but so far pretty let down. Its really not much louder than my cheap single 10 in a slapped together box. It plays deep for sure and sounds pretty good I just expected more out of them spl wise. Maybe they need some break in time.

Just a quick update on the subs and box. I think these things needed more of a break in period than I am used to. They seem to keep getting louder and better sounding after each time I play it. I decided to clamp my amp and I am getting 870. To be honest I have to get a scope to see if I am clipping . I also realized that I need to do the big 3 bad because when I first start the test tone the voltage drops to 11.4 and rises back up to 12. So I am thinking with a little more break in and power I might be happy with these after all.

So I went with a larger power wire and it fixed my voltage drop problem. Clamped it again and got 962. The subs are sounding great and it really impresses me for 8's. I cant believe how long they took to break in but it was worth it. I am glad you guys talked me into them. Now I am debating if I should get the cab 1600.1 for a little more power or is the small gain im going to see not worth it.
