Finally got the HO alt

So yesterday I was looking into finally getting a HO alt for my buick century. Someone brought up Ohio gen and so I gave them a ring. They built my alternator in only a few hours, which was enough time for me to make the hour and a half trip out to Louisville. Anyways, the alternator is a CS130, which fits directly were my current alt is. The specs from the test sheet are as follows:

Max output: 200a

Max out power: 2771 watts

volt set point: 14.6v

Leakage current: .87mA

Ripple current: 26a

Turn on speed: 2222 rpm

Regulator activation: 876 rpm

Secondary regulation: 14.7v

Tach freq: 251Hz

Stator voltage:.2

Output at RPM:

2400rpm-37a

3500rpm-137a

5000rpm-182a

6000rpm-195a

6500rpm-200a -Max

Cost was decent, under 300 which was awesome considering my budget that I had set. Let me know what you think.

I looked into Ohio Gen a while back, but when they quoted me $499.99 for a 200amp alternator for my Sebring, I told the guy he was out of his fuc.king mind....lol...

So I called up DC Power, 275 amp alternator custom built for my car for $350...can't beat that..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

Is that Sebring a V6? How much HP did you seem to lose going to the 275a alt? Is it noticable in power since the alt upgrade?

I rarely have my car over 3000 RPM so I would be looking for something that puts out more in the low end....but thats just me and my needs.

Those are alt RPMs I believe, not engine RPMs.

Ya the RPMs from the test are for the alternator. They were alright guys if you ask me. They were more phone busy this time of year than production wise so they were able to get it build in a matter of hours. Very professional and courteous, they were real helpful giving me directions there when I thought I may have gone the wrong way.Unfortunately, my car suffered some wear from the trip and I got some noise coming from the wheels/brakes that I am getting inspected first thing tomorrow morning. I'm going to try to order some Knu cable asap once I get some cash, but, with the weather and the present wheel problem its going to take a little while. There prices very depending on the car and whatnot, I only payed $250 otd, much less than if I had bought an alt and had it rebuild by roadquake, I will keep updating my progress and the performance of the alt once I get everything together.

Those are alt RPMs I believe, not engine RPMs.

You're correct, divide by ~3 to get engine RPM. EX. alt RPM on birth sheet says 3000rpm that equals ~1000 engine RPM.

I was looking for a HO Alt for my Century. What year is that? I got an 89' and had some brake problems when i first got it. It only started when you had been driving it for awhile and has recently stopped all together. It was weird. Other than that, my ac had a bad bearing but that noise stopped too? Nice solid car

Its a 94 3.1L the noise from the brakes and tire area started around the time I had gotten off the highway on the way to get the alt like an hour and a half away. Sh*t happens. I'm taking it in tomorrow to get the brakes inspected, tires rotated, and oil changed so hopefully it wont be nothing but a simple brake pad or lining.
