Final thoughts on a subwoffer?

So I find myself very close to buying a SI Mag 12 and don't know if I'm going over my head. From all the research I have done I know it can handle a wide variety of tones AND get stupid loud. the problem is I don't really need stupid loud so I don't know if I'm paying way too much.

What do you who have heard the sub think? I am looking just for a little loud SQ system.

My budget is a little up in the air right now because I don't want to cheap out and be dissapointed. Right now my MAX budget is around $500 (looking at the SI MAG), but if I can get a sub that will fullfill my goals for less I'll go for it.

The front stage will be a pair of Boston Acoustics Pro60s probably running off a Zed Deuce. I want a sub that will fill in flawlessly with the Bostons and be able to get a bit loud if I'm in that mood.

What do you guys think?

Right now I think I'll go with sundown for the sub amp.

IMO the Mag and IDMax are very comparable. Similar output potential and both have great SQ. Im gonna be switching out subs soon, been toiling over the same two subs. I seriously considered the Mags, but I think Im gonna go with IDMaxes, I just love how ID's speakers sound.

Yeah I think from all my reading its down to ID MAX Arc Flatline or a Mag. Maybe the results from the 12" test will help in the matter.
Im confident any of those 3 subs would satisfy you. At some point you need to consider the install will make more difference than exactly which speaker brand/model you use. I think you are looking at 3 similarly performing subs, pick one and start dedicating your efforts to the install, rather than spending most of your time worrying which sub exactly. Not suggesting you are doing that here, or doing anything wrong, but too many times I see people put 80% of their effort into picking a brand/model and 20% actually designing and building the install. If you are one of the seemingly few that knows to do it the other way around (80% on install) then any of those 3 subs will perform excellently for you.
