Fiberglassing a 4-Din console in a 2001 Nissan Maxima

Alright! I am ****ed determined to get the cuts done this weekend after spending every waking moment at work this past week. Here we can see some pics of the climate control face attached with body filler and sanded. There are a few rough spots which will require some attention later on.

and now for a close-up.

I will have to use some Tiger Hair to fill the one side in since I sanded down to far (40-grit = paper saw, seriously :noes: ). But I must say that it looks hella good mounted this way.

and a shot from the top. It's a bit contoured, but only if viewed from this angle, so I can live with that.

Ok, now time to get to the monitor! First things first, we have to saw out the faceplate. Now remember back where I had to use Tiger Hair to fill ni the gap between the mold and the air vents? Yeah, well it's back to haunt me. Take a look...

that looks so ****ing good.

but i though i'd warn you. the bond between the plastic and the bondo is not very strong and after a month or too they might start to crack apart and form gaps, thats what happoned to me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif.

REALLY. Well that's no good. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Did you do anything to fix it?

Alright, nothing friggin exciting here just some crappy days that set me back (can you tell I'm pissed?) Here is what has happened in the past 24 hours:

First I sanded the bejesus out of the monitor backside in order to get a nice flush fit.

You guys can expect some very tedious, boring pics for the next few posts. Now comes the boring-azz 'fine-tuning' portion where I line everything up juuuuust right.

Here we see the sides run over with body filler in order to fill all of the pits.

And now fo some Tiger Hair on the one corner I messed up

And some more on the one end

After some sanding of the previou steps and some fit testing I found that I still have some unnaceptable gaps on the sides of the HU and that the lower border of the monitor need be brought further up. So I created a backing out of some index cards and added some body filler to the areas I need to bring up.
