fi ssd12 what amp?

Id go for something around 1000 watts.

I am going to be getting the same sub (or the q not sure yet) and I am going to use a kicker xz 750.1 which can do like 900 watts

It will take alot more than 800w. I'd look for a Sundown Sae-1000 to power it.
I guess I'll ask this again in this thread:

Just curious, but what makes a $400 Sundown amp that can do 1000 RMS at 1 ohm better than (for example) a $250 Kicker amp that can do 1000 RMS at 2 ohm?

Other than the name of course. What is actually better about it?

I just see them recommended so often, but the prices are outrageous for the wattage they provide. I figure I must be missing something.

You can get a used SAZ-1500 for around $300-325 shipped on here. Sundown's customer service is A+ as well, I'd rather spend the few extra dollars and have a product, where if anything ever goes wrong, I can log onto a forum, speak with Jacob and get things figured out within an hour, try getting that kind of service from Kicker in that time frame.

he does have a point here. while i am sure you do get better customer service with sundown but that service might not be worth $150 if you never experience any problems with your amp. idk maybe im wrong but anyhow i cant afford a sundown at the moment anyways.

Is service the main difference?

I just ask because you can get a brand new (1 year warranty) Kicker ZX1000.1 for around $260 at hifisoundconnection. It'll do 1000 (probably closer to 1200) RMS at 2 ohms.

Yet most of the time when anyone needs an amp suggestion, someone always suggests a Sundown that costs $150 more brand new and gives about 60% of the output at 2 ohms.

I don't doubt that Sundown makes quality products, but I always have to question HOW good when you're paying significantly more for significantly less power.

I can't comment on Kicker's service, but it doesn't take a small company to have good service. When my Infinity 12" burned a voice coil they responded to my email within a few hours and the next day my sub was in the mail to them. They were moving their warehouse and their entire inventory about 1500 miles at the time and my replacement still arrived within 2 weeks.

Coming from about 10 years of working on computer hardware, this is extremely fast service. Often times RMAs can take a month or more, and that's for PC hardware that could be needed to run a business.

It just seems like most people aren't going to be concerned enough about how quickly their questions will be answered to spend an extra $150 on an amp. If there is more to all these Sundown recommendations than service via forums, then I'll change my tune... but as it is, it just seems like a case of "It must be better because it costs more" which is what a lot of people around here claim is just a problem with the big name brands like Bose.
