Fi question

Fi claims bp power can add a few hundred more watts RMS depending on enclosure. I read somewhere you can go up to 1800. i have a Q 15 , with about 1300-1400rms.... you really don't need more than 1000rms

I have been testing this for a few weeks now. I run 18's with bp. I put 2,000 watts to it in 6 cubes sealed. It took it OK, not great, amp had to be so finely tuned it was a pain in the *** all the time. EXTREMELY low low bass, not much else besides low stuff. I had some issues with bottoming it out (what I believe was bottoming out..). Then I ran 1,100 watts to it. SQ was a little better and it wasnt phased at all.

Then I dropped them in a 4 cube sealed and threw 2k at 1ohm. The sub loved it. Still needed to adjust amp right on the money, but WOW.

Next was 750 watts. Amazingly still loud yet noticeably different with great sq.

All in all, I would say the 18 can handle 1800-2000 daily in the right box.

If you are bottoming a speaker out it is nothing short of user error...

You didn't have a subsonic filter set properly (2-4 Hz below tuning frequency of enclosure)..or if it was sealed it was either too large, or it leaked.

As far as power handling...we say..2-400 watts of additional power handling depending upon application. So that would be ~1300 watts...

I fed my 12" Q 1500 watts from a sundown 1500 for almost a year before i finally ripped the surround a little(was hardly noticible unless pounding), still need to fix that and put it in the wifes car as i went with a reconed 05 xxx for more power handling. That was in a 1.5 cube after displacement sealed box. About the only beef i had with the Q was that it was more or a low end beast and lacked the punch i wanted for the metal that i listen to, but other than that it sounded great. Oh and that was without the BP option. Alot of it depends on application aswell.

Fu.ckface huh? Yet another internet toughguy, seem to breed on this forum. Please at least try to do your research before you try to flame a guy who simply shared his experience. Will you both quit spreading wrong information to viewers looking for helpful insight.

First off a question was asked and I helped by giving my opinion.

I put 2k watts on the sub, that wont bottom it eh? So, I can put 2k on it? In any box? BP only adds 2-400? in your other post u said 2-500, pretty common knowledge for you. And this 2-400 or 500 or whatever, is linear accross any application or box? I was in 6 cube then 4 cube and 6 cube ported. ALL of which are right in specs, not too big, but u shoulda known that too. Do you even run Fi? If I worked there I'd have a wall of em fo shoor at least support my product and runnem, maybe you do. I personally dont know, didnt see them in your sig...

So, honestly what can I run to these subs in a sealed enclosure, maximum, hour a day? And what size enclosure to do it in with best overall results? I'm in Lincoln navigator SUV, subs facing rear in cargo.
