my first couple threads are here with pics if anyone is interested
My first experience building a box (or woodworking for that matter)
UPS Rocks! pt. 2 (Now with more subwoofer)
now onto the most recent events. It is installed. I redid the box to be longer and shorter and i think it turned out pretty good. The pics make it look a lot bigger than it appears in person. I'm going to carpet it too, probably tan, maybe black. Here are some pics:
and a pic of what everything went in to
I also went ahead and made a movie yesterday. The thing really moves. Of course shitty video means shitty sound, i didn't actually sound like that. I'm sorry it had to be linkin park, but it was the first thing i could think of that had a good amount of bass lol

(edit: sound clearly doesn't sync up correctly from youtube. oh well)
I was really unhappy with the sound that was coming out of it, but i had a feeling that it was because i didn't have things set optimally. I was right! i went ahead and tweaked everything tonight with the guide in the amplifier forum and the sound really blends great, the only way you can tell the bass is coming from behind you is the pounding sensation in the front passenger seat lol. My final system is as follows:
Headunit: Pioneer 480mp (mp3+cd) $160
Music Source: Black Ipod Video 30gig ~$250
Stereo Amp: Cadence z5000 180wx2 ~$250
Front Speakers: CDT HD-62z Components ~$330
Rear Fill: None (had some CDT coax's, one blew) ~$60
Subwoofer Amp: Orion 1200d (bought used, works great though, and it seems to be underrated) $220
Subwoofer: Fi Q 15" $279
Box: Sealed, ~2.3cubic feet (parts+mats ~$45)
2 Wiring Kits: 70+45= $115
Future plans (in order):
carpeting the box
big 3 (quite a bit of dimming with the bass turned up)
New headunit with builtin navigation and all that good stuff
new wheels
...
From what i've calculated, i've put in about 1450 dollars into this system over the past 2 years. It's really nice now that it is finally completed. I love how it sounds
