FG Mat

Im nothing more that a ignorant newb. So srry for asking such stupid questions. But i wanted to know where i could buy FG Mat from. i know you can buy it all over the internet, but i was looking for a store i could go to. Like Home Depot or somthing along those lines. I know they sell the resine but unless im just blind i dont think they sell the mat. any info would help

also, i remember seeing somthing about not using just fleece, but to start with a fleece base and then add the FG mat to it with about 6 - 8 layers. is that correct.

Home Depot should have the mat in the same section as the resin.

Lowes should have it as well.

I went to Walmart and found it cheaper than at both Home Depot and Lowes. Actually, I found it in a Canadian Walmart, and it worked out to be cheaper than the Walmart I was in down there even with the exchange rate ... so I lucked out.

So you're making some sort of enclosure, right? Stretching the fleece over the mouting ring and everything? After you soak the fleece with resin, you'll definitely have to add more layers. 6-8 is a good number for a subwoofer enclosure, depending on the shape and how big it is. If you can stand on it without it flexing, you should be in good shape. fiberglass matt can be bought at almost any car parts\repair store and most boating repair\parts stores.

its quite common tbh. resin is just a 2 part epoxy. can be gotten same places (usually right next ot fiberglass)

personally, i like the weave better than the matte. espically for the last few layers. take alot of the sanding work out of fiberglassing because its so much smoother.

Yep here in Philly boat stores had it for the cheapest and best selection of pre packaged fiiberglass or buy it by the foot.
