Few SSA DCON 10" questions

Does SSA make a 10" D2 DCON? I've been doing some research on this sub and it seems like a well-priced SQL sub... saw this thread and I'm now interested.

How does this sub do on taking power? I'd probly be running it (SVC 4 ohm) from an OS USA-150x (rated at 500 at 4 ohms), unless they make a D2 version, in which case I could use my USA-50HC, 375 at 1 ohm. Buuuut I'm not seeing it on SSA's store. So I suppose it doesn't exist.

I'd be running it in a ported box built to spec. Would 1/2" be acceptable?

If anyone has recommendations for similarly-priced 10" subs that will get loud with good SQ I'd be interested. The Dayton HO was also recommended to me for SQ purposes, but I've read reviews that it doesn't get as loud as people would like.

So-

1. D2 version?

2. Power handling capabilities?

3. 1/2" okay?

4. Other similar $$$ SQL subs?

Thanks for your help guys //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

no D2 and 500 watts will be ok just set your gains to be sending it around 350. I had mine on 400 each and it was fine. But i think 500 may be pushing it. Remember it's a badass woofer , but it's still only a 2" coil. 500 is not really needed to get that woofer going nicely.

if you want to run more power to them, i would do something like a single 12" icon. they come in dual 2 and can take 1k watts
yeah , 500 watts will be nice on an icon , and IMO the icon sounds just as nice as the dcon.

and 1/2" is too small for any sub IMO.

weight, enclosure size //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif I'd love to run a 12 though. 1 cube and a 20 lb sub is already pushing it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Go ahead and get the DCON , just tune your gains accordingly. I believe it may handle the 500 watts , but it probably wont be a huge gain in output and might shorten the life of the sub. Set the gains around 350-400 watts and you will be impressed and it will last you a long time.

Woops, thought when you said few ssa dcon 10's you meant you were gonna run 2 lol.

What kind of space are you restricted to? Ported or sealed?

And op, if you do run 500 watts then make sure your power is cleann

Wellllll I'm a SQ person but after hearing ported and sealed with multiple subs and boxes, I think I'm going to be disappointed if I go sealed again, dB-wise and low-end extension-wise. I need it to go low with ease and plenty of volume. So I was thinking 1 cube at 29 Hz (recommended 28-32 hz).

how much does that amp do bridged @ 2 ohms??
The 150X is stable to 4 ohms bridged - but apparently its been clamped upwards of 800 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif so LOW gains //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

The USA-50HC is stable to 0.5 ohm bridged... but no D2 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

I think the OS US amps are some of the cleanest around according to what I've read... and THD

yeah. with power that clean you should be ok at around 350-450 watts.
