SSA Icon Question

Can I pair a copper coil Icon 15 d2 with an aluminum coil Icon 15 d2. If i put these in a 4.5 cube sealed box with 1000 rms to each sub will there be any problems? I've read a million times that you should not mix different subs. Is that the case here or will it be fine.

Also how do i know if I have aluminum coils? I have the old style Icon with the small dustcap. the one I want to buy is the newer one with the inverted dustcap.

The subs will be facing the floor so no one will notice that the cones are different.

eh i wouldnt really go with it both sound somewaht different but its all up to u....why not sell the older one and pick up a newer one?

The website doesn't seem to have any for sale and i've been posting a WTB Icon thread since January. Whenever i do see an icon for sale its the newer model. I have a 12 and a 15 so at some point I may just have them rebuilt.

i wouldn't run both. aluminum can take a lot more power, mixing the two like that is gonna give you some weird results.

Don't mix the two. We hope to have some definitive info soon on when the new version will be ready.
