Zero is zero. Gain should have been set at zero. All you are doing is cutting certain frequencies. Not the whole bandwidth.I have a pioneer avh2300dvd. I do keep teh Q.A levels as low as possible, should I raise? I hear it could create distortion.
dude set your gains and head unit correctly. Also on pioneer head units with 2 volt preamps, you'll need to have the subwoofer level up for any amp to push its correct amount of power. So should I leave my eq low? Or pyle it on? Also, I have a toyota Highlander SUV.
Im all over it . I will try this on my lunch and get back to you later.dude set your gains and head unit correctly. Also on pioneer head units with 2 volt preamps, you'll need to have the subwoofer level up for any amp to push its correct amount of power.
sub level all the way up. EQ on completely flat settings, LPF on 80, HPF highest possible(for now), Bass boost off, loudness off.
On your amp, Bass boost at 0, LPF all the way up(for now) subsonic filter off(for now) gain/input level down low.
Im all over it. I will be trying this on my lunch period. Ill keep you posted.
get a 50 hz test tone
Turn volume up high to the point where your mids and highs almost distort, pretty much your listening level for them. Play that 50 hz test tone and go to your amp and start setting the gain turn it up until you hear the bass tone starts changing distorting or sounding wierd etc.. Back it off a few notches Then your good.
Put low pass filter back on to 80 on your amp and subsonic filter to around 20(if you dont have a subsonic filter dont worry just skip to the next),
back on the head unit, put high pass filter back down to 80.
Have your sub face the trunk hatch, have it 6 inches away from it.
You should get the actual output out of that sub from doing this. If your still not happy then you just have too much output expectations out of a little 10" Sound quality based sub.
depends on what music you like also. You can always gain up a little bit for rock music and then when your playing hip hop, have the subwoofer level down several notches. All things in moderation, take special care, have 10 minute full blast test sessions to see if the sub or amp doesnt get hot at all, you can go a little bit more, when it just stays warm and your battery voltages are stable and dont drop, then your at a good spot.I feel like just raising my gain even though it may go over the voltage recommended for tuning. I never used a dmm for tuning before and have always had nice sounds. I think I may be pampering this 10'' too much and this may be why I am not getting what I want in sound.
yeah, thats what I will try next. I will also keep my bass knob down to a low limit. What about the bass dial on my amp? should I keep it down too?depends on what music you like also.
