Feel like I;m spending too much money on a system...am I?

Its summer time, just set it all out in the sun while youre working with it and it will be warm enough. Unless its really cold out you wont even need to heat it up, just being in the sun is enough.
For some reason, if it is cold out, just get an extension cord and grab your moms/girlfriends/wives hair dryer. That does the trick just fine.

The black side is a butyl. Its just sticky, thats all. You can touch it, and it doesnt leave a mess or anything. Heck, you can stick it to a white shirt and it doesnt leave any mark.

Its designed to have a totally clean, idoit-proof install. If the mat is stuck on the metal, its installed correctly. No real way to do it wrong.
ohhh man! Well that's an absolute sigh of relief. Saves me some cash right there

Also, you can build the box yourself. Do you have a circular saw? Or can you at least cut a straight line with a jigsaw? If so, I will design you a box, then just go buy a sheet of wood. Just gotta glue and screw it together, its a piece of cake.

You can easily get an awesome box for under $85 in materials and a couple hours of your time.

what kind of car? and 2 12's off 3k would be louder I bet....1k will hardly move em

That's one of the dumbest things I've seen today. Doubling the power essentially yields +3 dB of output. 10x power = +10 dB, approximately, given all variables are constant.

from 1k to 3k would be about +3.5 dB. Not much difference for daily driving.

Again, all theoretical, real results may be greater or lesser.

The idea of building my own box isn't out of the question, but looking at other people's install logs there's just a ton of box talk going on as far as reinforcement, glue, sealing and all that that kinda just goes over my head. I'm totally lost in the instillation department, I'm still learning about wiring and electrical stuff.

my 3-8's off fo 2600RMS hit a 144.5 tuned in just a few minutes. if i had more deadening, proper tuning, and a few more runs i would probably do better but its ok for my daily driver and 3-8" subs.

sounds better and as loud as previous systems with 12's and 15's where i had to build less than stellar enclousures due to their sheer size.

I can walk you through it all. Its really not that complicated.

I noticed in your sig you have 2 15's? How do they sound in 7.25 cubes? Don't the HDC3 15's call for 5 cubes each?
no, they range. Off your power I would do 8 cubes tuned to 36 hz or so. But 8 cubes would be tight in the vibe. I would do 2 12's.....or 1- 15" and build it with 2 extra spiders, maybe alum coil....would be nice and save money

and I sold my hdc3's, but in that box I loved em

The help would be very much appreciated. Obviously I'm aware I would be building it out of 3/4" mdf, besides that I don't have much.

So personal opinion question for you, I'm looking for SPL. Given about 6, maybe 7 cubes max, what would you suggest? Would you say 2 15's and given them each a little less room, or 2 12's and give them their ideal space? Like i mentioned earlier I have a Pontiac Vibe (hatchback) and don't wanna take the back seats.

wtf you sayin, obviously you did not understand my post or have knowledge with the subs. 1k will barely be anough to move the subs. They come alive off 1500+

plus with 2 12's he can build a proper sized box, and save money

Can you custom order extra spiders in subs from Audioque?

LOL Now you're saying from 1000 to 1500 watts there's a big difference...

hes saying with 3 tens getting about 1k each vs the 2 12s getting 1500 each

I would say either 2 12s or 1 18. Going with the single 18 would probably be your best bet as its the most cone area for the cheapest price there is.

I understand. He obviously doesn't understand crest factor, log scale, power compression, impedance rise, etc., and that is my point. 500 watts in the scheme of things really isn't much.
