FedEx to raise Ground, Home Delivery rates

NEW YORK (AP) -- FedEx Corp. said Thursday it will raise shipping rates for its Ground and Home Delivery units by an average of 4.9 percent in 2010 -- 1 percentage point less than this year's rate hike.

FedEx announced in September it will increase shipping rates for Express packages shipped within or from the U.S. by an average of 5.9 percent in 2010, also 1 percentage point lower than FedEx's rate increase this year. That rate is partially offset by a lower fuel surcharge.

The company, based in Memphis, Tenn., said Thursday that SmartPost rates also will change, but didn't specify how. SmartPost is FedEx's partnership with the U.S. Postal Service.

All of the rate increases will go into effect on Jan. 4.

Nope. UPS is also raising rates because they are wanting to get into strictly commercial delivery in the states to save money.

Yeah, they are. I got an e-mail from UPS that said they were raising rates starting next year.

I work at a shipping company. We get maybe 3-4 fedex claims a year, 40-50 UPS claims, and 40-50 USPS claims a year. And Fedex is the only company that pays out if they are at fault. I will never send anything usps. **** i shipped a gauge pod with $400 worth of gauges in it priority mail only because we have no fedex or ups here at school. Some ****er opened the box and stole what was inside...

in short i got ****ed out of $400 i'm pissed
