with the resin settling i went on and picked up the rear dash panel to remove the molds.
the paste wax helped alot, but so did cutting the mold open to help release the flare.
then i trimmed off some fo the excess.
after that i sanded up the back side of the rear panel where the molds where going to permanently attach to. then i added popsicle sticks to sections where glass did no touch the panel.there is a reason behind as to why but i'm not going to get into that. it's mainly because of the way the top side was glued down first.
but anyways right now both molds are now pwermanently attached with 2 part epoxy.
after i did that i went and added a second coat of resin onto the beauty panel.
these pics are dark but i hope you can make do.
and that's that for today. i was going to focus on the panel but i still got to work on the molds holding their place. tomorrow i plan on fleecing the panel and starting to glass up the amp panel.
Wow, alot of work going into this rebuild, looks good so far.
I evny you guys with the talent to fiberglass, its something im just not confortable with lol.
alright i got some work done yesterday but i didn't post as i had a friend come over and hang out. he helped me glass the rear deck some and he may come over again today to help some more.
well. i got 2 layers of glass on the amp panel. though i have an issue with it now. the hot glue that i used to hold the spandex down onto the amp in a certain area gave out and the spandex came up. now i'm stuck having to fix that area. i'll explain that a little later.
after i glassed up the beauty panel i decided to get back to work on the rear dash panel. i fleeced it up tight, then got some resin on there, then went to work. right now it sits on 2 layers of glass as well.
today i plan on added 2 more. then i'll cut out the area where the ports are sittin in. depending on how smooth it is i ma need to pick up some body filler but i'll put that on hold.
after i add the 2 layers needed for the dash panel i need to figure out how i'm going to fix the amp panel issue. i took a vid to show what it's doing
now here is my issue with the amp panel. the bottom section is a section that needed to be held down onto the amp to maintain it's "flush look" but i think the heat decided to play against me and weaken the hot glue and cause it to let go while it was i a drying stage with the glass.
here is a vid showing what i need to fix.
i'll get back to yall on it. but for now, i'm going to get back to work.
