Favorite tuning frequency?!

So I'm planning on building a set up for my home stereo and I'm going to tune the box pretty low (around 20-23hz) and so are you saying I'll be able to play Bass I Love You and actually have it sound good?
Depends? lol
What driver are you using? Do you have the ability to model driver behavior in various sealed or vented alignments? Will your room size make your equipment misbehave?

You guys think you can just build a monkey coffin and throw a port in it, throw any old river in there no matter what specs it has, and shit will just sound great. lol

Good results are the result of good planning. Or sheer luck in many of you guys' cases.

Hence why keep_hope_alive says that he spends 100 hours with any car audio install that he does in his vehicles. he said he tries multiple locations and so much more.

Most likely not. I mean. It would . But what ciaonzo is saying. Is that there is no "magical" number. It takes experimentation. You would have model different drivers, tunings and such. Also you would have to figure out and take into account the size of the room the driver will be in and so much more.
You are better off. Asking @double 07 ; to build you a house sub enclosure. Unless you are prepared to dive into a whole lot experimenting and learning.

Shouldn't the tuning depend more on the subs suspension? Like the better the suspension, the higher a tuning you can get away with for output sakes? Kinda like how AQ used to state
If the highest possible output is your only goal, you wouldn't want to follow my advice. And what do you consider a better suspension? What is a bad suspension, lol?
nvm...harsh

Sorry, I get like that sometimes. And it wasn't really directed toward anyone in this thread, it was simply an over-generalization.

You know, I've read of woofers that are really stiff or have multiple spiders. I thought that was the intent behind that designing
Drivers with very stiff suspensions definitely have a place and serve a purpose. They're usually best suited for high power installs and would surely help with unloading issues as you stated earlier. Not necessarily the best choice for bandwidth or musicality but this is subjective and there's always an exception to any rule.

Makes senses. They're very few high power sound quality subs

Xfls are pretty stiff. Mine at 27hz tuning is pretty musical. For me it is at least. Can play down to about 20 no problem. Very good output down there to.

The lowest I've tuned is 27hz and I like it. Would actually like to tune lower, maybe 22-24hz but I'm not sure how much the xfl will like it.

I'm tuned at 34 and can play down to 23 hz just fine
With my 27hz tuning ill start unloading at around 16-17hz. But the output that low doesn't interest me so my ssf is set at 19-20hz. I'm also giving my sub double rms power and my box is on the larger size as is my port. What is your ssf filter at for those kickers?

Didn't set it lol
