fastest uve driven?

If the fact that the car was not in motion does not matter, my speedo was pegged at 120 doing a wet burnout... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The fastest I have been while behind the wheel in my Explorer was 119 mph+ (give or take 5)

I have a custom burned apten chip to take the speed limiter off, but I had to slow down b/c my friends flagged me down to let me know they could smell my tires smoking //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

160ish in my ***** Am before the stall converter, not so sure it could do it now (higher stall converters are more inefficient than the stock unit, and above 100 MPH you can really feel it). Been there twice, doubt I'll ever go back honestly. Too much can happen to fast at that speed, and the chances of living through a slight slip aren't in my favor. Scary stuff.

I don't know how any of you can drive that fast. There are too many cars on the road around where I live unless I tried that at 2-3:00 AM. But then there is the risk of a police officer hiding and waiting to come for you. Besides I don't think the highways around my house are flat enough to do anything more than about 85 MPH in my car. After that my car would be all over the place, but I have a saturn which explains why I can't drive those speeds.

Around my area, it's mostly rural. I used to go to college in a town 45 minutes from mine before I transfered to where I'm at now, and there was this VERY long, VERY straight, VERY flat stretch of road that was probably 3 miles. I just dropped the hammer and I was there in no time. The first time I actually did it I had gotten into a race with an BMW M3 and he let out at 120 MPH, but I really wanted to drive the point home on him so I stayed in it like a dumbass just to see how fast I could get going. We started the race at 70 MPH and by 110 MPH it was over with, he was a good ways back, and then he let out, no real way I would have lost it and taken him with me, I was WAY down the road. Soon as he let out he disappeared QUICK in the rearview and I still have alot of the straight left so I stayed in it. Doesn't take long for a car that has a decent amount of horsepower to carry you to speeds like that.

Gotta love that ls1 huh? Do you have any mods? My biggest mod was my headers... made a big difference. I haven't tried lately but I bet I can run with the ls1 guys around here.

No headers yet, was about to get some but decided I need to pay off all my debt before I get any deeper into modding the 'bird. Mods are as follows........

Performance:

Functional ram air intake (Suncoast Creations)

Hooker 3" catback

TCS Stage 1.5 built 4L60E

TCS 3200 stall, 2.5 STR 9.5" converter

Suspension:

HAL 12 way adjustable front coilover struts

HAL 12 way adjustable rear shocks

HAL front drag springs, BMR rear 1" lowering springs

(Used to have LG Motorsports G2 Super Springs all around)

BMR Strut Tower Brace

BMR Adj Panhard Rod

BMR Lower Control Arms (removed not too long ago)

BMR lower control arm relocation brackets

Spectacle Solutions three point (double diamond) subframe connectors

Appearance:

17x9 ROH Snyper machined wheels on 275/40 Kumho tires, soon to be 275/40 Nitto drag radials in the rear

Suncoast Creations Raptor ram air hood

Check the link in the sig, I know I left some stuff out. Free mods, little appearance things, stuff here and there. Decided I was going to pay the car off before I modded more, but when mod time comes back up, I'll be getting a stage 2 heads and cam package from either Total Engine Airflow or Futral Motorsports as well as long tube headers, better y-pipe, more suspension stuff like a torque arm and some safety stuff (driveshaft loop, 4 point cage). Goal is to break into the 11s with the full system in the car on drag radials, and with the car in drag mode, stripped down, on ET Streets, run 11.49 or better, over 120 MPH, and be over 400 RWHP and TQ. Was getting ready to do all that this summer but decided I'd rather be out of debt and then do all that stuff, rather than sink myself in deeper right now.

Very smart man ... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It's amazing how much you've really done performance/suspension wise with the car.

One question though ... would you recommend the HAL adjustable coilover struts ? How do you like them so far ? I was looking into something similar, but an opinion on the HAL's would be great //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ive driven 95ish in my 91 suburban with over 150,000 miles on it and this was up hill... talk about rattles and wind noise and other bad stuff like that

ive had my mom 97 caddillac up to 105 up the same hill not anywhere close to maxing out rpms tho

i was in my friends 97 328 and he got it up to about 125 on open interstate

The HALs are awesome, I really like the adjustability and it really does work, but if I had it to do all over again, in my situation, it's not worth the money. Good drag racing shocks if money is no factory, the new R front shocks are probably the best. Probably the second best shocks for sports handling to the Koni double adjustables. I really wished I would have tried these shocks with my LG Motorsports springs, something more designed for awesome handling, but I had Bilstein HD shocks on when I had my LGs on the car. I also hear really good things about the Tokicko and KYB adjustable shocks, they are worth looking into if you want adjustability but dont want to drop the coin on HALs.

The LT1 has a torque peak that comes on almost instantly. I'm not sure on the exact RPM but I believe its around 3000 RPMs. The LS1 doesn't hit peak torque til 4400 RPMs but it has equal torque to an LT1, just higher up in the power band, and it also has quite a bit more horsepower, in almost every way it is a superior engine, stock for stock. With that said, once the mods begin, they are cheaper for an LT1 to begin with, and also they dont have problems like the LS1s have once you start boring them for bigger displacement, and the iron block is a bit stronger when going with power adder situations. I think the biggest downfall of the LT1 is its more-cramped-than-an-LS1 engine bay and the biggest of all, the optispark. But they have a coilpack conversion out now that somewhat eliminates the problems with it (but not totally). Both are awesome engines in their own right though, but I feel the LS1 is just a better engine in almost all cases (save cost of mods, much more expensive). I think the LS1 got one of the Ten Best Engines ever made award. Not saying this because I have one, I'd honestly rather have an LT1 and save some cash, but I got this car three years ago and am too upside down to get out of it.

Umm.. half, probably more, of the stuff on this thread is absolute CR@P! Anyways, 4 bangers and even 6's for that matter (esp stock!) ARE NOT GONNA GO 150+

92 Cherokee: 100-105mph? First car

89 Corvette: PUSHED it only got 125-130mph

96 Impala SS (the ones with the Lt4 engines): 140mph (138) and that was absolutely the limit, took a while to get there (governor??? assuming so)

01 Honda F4i (600): my baby, did 161mph and that was probably, if not, very close to the limit.

NOW: have my 99 Hoe and enjoy simply cruising, leave the speed to my street bike where ill only hurt myself. As for all the bullshit on this thread, no you didnt do 287 mph, or 160 in a ****in camry or whatever. I do believe the Hyabusa though if i had one Id HAVE to push it to 200

Wanna trade? You have my dream car... I don't plan on modding the hell out of my car so I would rather it be faster stock. I think I am done w/ the HP mods... Optispark sucks *** also, I burnt one up already... I am afraid to clean my engine because I dont want to have to go through that again. Cramped engine bay is definately the truth, but once you get rid of EGR and AIR, the drivers side of the engine bay gains some space. Mods for camaros are much more expensive than for mustangs also, but that being said, I just don't like them. Definately not a ford fan. We had a car show yesterday in my town and they had about 7 ls1 camaros and ***** am's, a few of them were in the low 11's. It was fun though...

the ford escort cosworth engine is a 4 pot. The one i was in rated at 420HP at the wheels, but on a dyno, it made 500HP.

Try to search the net for Graham Goode Racing, the guys who modded the guy for my friend, named Saladin Mazlan, a WRC rally driver.

An old CRX has been modded to produce over 500Hp by the use of a HUGE turbo as well as NOS. Was made quite a number of years back.

4 pots can go WAY over 150MPH, my friend. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
