Cliff notes: Have $2500 budget, want to use Alpine 9851/53/55 head unit, listen to all music. Help me buy my system.

My WRX is gone... and I've decided to take half the money from the parts sold to buy a system. I want to spend roughly $2500. The likely car will be a Lincoln LS, Camry, Altima, something in that neighborhood. I want to go with an Alpine head unit, like the 9851/53/55 if I'm not mistaken. I don't know jack about sound, only how to make cars faster... I'll figure it out, just need a nudge in the right direction as far as products go. I listen to all types of music from Johnny Cash to German techno, swear it!

Thats a nice budget, youll be able to put together something nice. Are you mainly interested in SPL, SQ, or SQL? Also, we can give you recommendations on things to check out, but your final decisions will have to take the vehicle into account as well.

Look around the different sections of the forum, and youll start to get a grasp on what some of the better brands are. .

Heres a list ot sites to check out also,

Oh, and what kind of amp wattage would be considered "competitive"

I'm kind of excited about this whole sound system thing, it's so inexpensive compared to going fast. $6k on my wrx and I only had 310whp... nothing to mess with, but no 1000hp Supra...

What about 2 Tumult 12D4s with 2 NINe.1 amps running at 2ohms? It's around $2000, figure $500 for head unit. I'm in the clear. I'll worry about comps, mids, and tweeters later. They're cheap. I'm gonna build something sick. Tell me, is this sick? Or just slightly disgusting?

Any suggestions on something equivalent? What's the longevity of these products? Good name? Anything cheaper that'll sound similar? If I plan to drop this much cash think I can get sponsored and show her off???

That would be a hell of a setup....As for longevity, should last as long as you take care of them. The ED amps come with a three year warranty, and Adire subs are top notch also. Not sure on the sponsorship, couldnt hurt to ask... Anything cheaper? Probably, but might not give you the sound you want. Maybe go to some audio meets, or find forum members near you, hear what they have, see what type of sound you like.
