Farad Cap..what kind?

What are some decent brands of farad capacitors or does it even really matter?

I found a Stinger one that I liked and wasnt sure if they are decent for 1200w.

Any other recommended caps?

i strongly suggest getting another batter instead of a cap. but if you want to spend even more money on a good thing, get a new alternator or get the one you have rewound. cap=waste.

Actually another battery would be even worse. All that would do is add another load to your already struggling alternator and it would allow you to play your system longer without the engine running thats all. A cap is useless in the real world and the only real way to help a dimming like problem is get a bigger alternator. Go to http://www.mralternator.com and look for your vehicle and see what size altys you can get for it.

Don't get discouraged. You do need to make sure you've got a beefy alternator and then get the cap. A cap isn't only for "power" stability, it also cleans up your DC power source by grounding out the AC component thus giving the amps power supply "cleaner" power. Caps are hyped up with "pretty" colors and other things, but they're all pretty **** close in functionality. I would just look for one with a higher temperature rating. If you want to get nit picky look for one with less tolerance, 5% as opposed to 20%.
