I am looking to buy a pair of PPI Pro 12 subs. I was hoping someone here could tell me what they think a fair price on these would be. The subs are in excellent shape. Thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I dunno, you tell me, Im thinking about selling mine too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Last pair I saw on ebay went for like $280 iirc for the pair. Novelty item at this point imo. *shrug*

Try a search on ebay for completed items, see if any more have been sold in the last month (other than the ones listed above). That way you can gauge their value by comparing their condition to the ones that have been sold.

Yeah the flat cones. The guy is asking $300 shipped I think I am going to get them. I think they will fit in nicely with my black art series amps.

Anyways....$300 shipped sounds like a pretty good deal. Figure that's only $150 shipped per sub.

Yeah I am going to get them. They are in excellent condition, and will fit in nicely w/ my install //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Now what to fo with my Atlas's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Hopefully I can hold on to them. May have to sell them though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Novelty? I've always wanted to hear how those sounded.

Yeah i am not buying them to hang on my wall //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif I am interested in hearing them myself.

The ppi pro's were a flat cone piston sub long before eD was even around, as Im sure you already know squeak. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif So far as I know, the eD subs used the same material PPI had used in their cones though (honeycomb nomex with a kevlar skin).

I call them a novelty because while they do sound pretty good, imo there are good and/or better sounding subs out today with much more output capability. With their approx 6mm of excursion, they wont be breaking any windshields in a sealed setup, and everything Ive read says they perform poorly vented (although I never ported mine). And with a 300rms power spec, you couldn't dump alot of power into them in a ported box for high output anyway. Not to mention they require a relatively large enclosure (had my 12's in 1.5-2 cubes per, sealed... iirc). Dont get me wrong, I love the pro's, in their day they were quite the technological subwoofer with their flat nomex/kevlar cone, shallow mounting depth and ferrofluid cooling. But there are much better performing subs out today, the technology has come a long ways since the ppi pro's were new.

Couple pics of one of my ppi pro's next to my xxx's:

The only ppi pro Id be interested in personally anymore would possibly be the 15. The PPI Pro's were one of the few subs to use different motor's for the different sizd subs, and the 15's had the beastly motor in it (for its time). It was rated for double the power etc of the 12's and 10's. I wanted the 15's when I bought mine, but they were also double the money, whcih is also why they are harder to find these days.

edit: I think chosing them over atlas' would probably be a mistake. But then, Ive never been around an atlas.

I've seen people seriously make that comment before though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Thanks for the pics //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif They are going in a total SQ system so I am not worried about there SPL abilities. I am aware there are better subs available now but I think they will sound good with my install and look really good with the black art series amps.
