fabric in front of mid

Just wondering if i'm using a thin fabric just infront of my mid (instead of the big ugly plastic grills) will it affect the sound somehow? will it filter some freqs?

I'm talking about a fabric like the one they use in Ht to cover the bookshelf speakers and everything....

i cut the grill to let the mid breath a little and it seems to help alot, but will adding the fabric bring me back to where i was

Also, is it bad if that fabric get some "woobling" from the air movement. will it affect the perfomance in any way?

well maybe it's a tad wider than the material used for ht speakers.
