F@#& Pioneer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By your explanation it sounds like you did not disconnect the negative from your battery - but instead only disconnected the positive fuse. You always disconnect the ground to your battery when messing with swapping RCAs with a Pioneer HU to ensure you don't blow the pico fuse.

^^^^^ I agree ^^^^

But where is the potential hazard when there is no power in the system? Not trying to argue, just wondering?

The battery is still connected to the HU so you still have power. As to why this may cause the pico fuse to pop, I don't know. I just know to always play it safe.

What I was going to say.

Like you said you disconnected power to the TRUNK. The HU still had power and the end of the RCA in the trunk could have grounded on metal.

well it is grounded so there is current flowing, but no, thats not what they are saying

they are saying that just because you disco power going to the amp doesnt mean that the radio doesnt have power going through it.

it does

Your deck always has power...thats how it keeps all your settings etc. That is also why when you disconnect your battery you have to go through your deck and reset all the settings.

The pico fuse is very sensitive.

If you have warranty on it still send it to the most local Pioneer repair center. You can search them on their site,

When you send it put a note in it telling them to just solder in place of the fuse. The guy near me did this upon my request whuile he was in their fixing the real issue with the HU.......different subject now..lol

I realize the HU has some sort of power to keep settings, but you guys mssed my point.

Im trying to understand how the rca fuse can blow w/o any sort of current being applied through them?

Did you hook up an external crossover? I had the problem with my Pioneer deck with engine noise and ended up selling it, well not main reason why, but I thought I was getting out of audio......well I didn't. I ended up getting a Kenwood deck and some new componets and I didn't have any engine noise what so ever...........ahh, it was so nice! Then, I get tired of not having any bass and put the subs in there with amp and the external 3-way crossover in there. Well guess what, now I have engine noise out the whazoo! Well not that bad, but it is there. Ended up being my crossover, which still works, just has a bad ground in it. So just throwing it out there as it may be your problem as well.

I did that samething with you, grounding the deck all kind of ways, swapping out RCA's, taking all out and putting back in, moving wires from right to left, left to right. The one thing I never checked.............was my crossover............well ended up being it all along as I took it out and used the crossovers in the amp and it went away! Problem is my internal crossovers **** compared to my el Cheapo external 3-way, so hooked it back up and bam, noise is back. So investing in a new crossover.

Just trying to help.
