Extra equalizer or better HU

I plan on fine tuning my system with an RTA but my current HU doesn't have any programmable EQ.

1. Would I be better off getting an extra DIN EQ or just upgrading my HU to one that has an EQ?

2. SQ-wise, is the extra DIN EQ better than an HU EQ in any way other than more resolution? (as in more hz you can adjust).

3. How accurate is the auto-EQ on the pioneer DEH-P880PRS? If its accurate, that would eliminate the need to buy a mic, software, and preamp to tune the system.
