I read that you cannot just add a second battery without geting a bigger alternator because they said it would put to much strain on your alternator trying to charge 2 batterys and it would kill it or cause electrical problems whats your thoughts?

depends what kind of batts......

wet celled batts put more of a strain on your alt.

if you go with AGM batts you will be fine.......
