Extra Batt or New Alternator

At the moment i dont have the money to buy them both, after spending so much on my other stuff...

So im gona be running 1800 watts rms... ive currently got a stock alternator, only 95 amps. and my batt under the hood is 850 cold crankin amps. Im looking to get a 225 amp alternator? So should i get the alternator first or a battery for the back?

Also, if i got a 225 amp alternator, with my current battery under the hood. would that be enough to push the amp? or MUST i get a battery for the back before i use the system...?

I say alt and the big 3 and you should be fine. then upgrade the battery in the front. you probably wont even need a battery in the rear!!

sounds good. although i proly wont upgrade the front battery, only because my dad just replaced it. So it would piss him off if i went and bought a new one. waisting his money. idk ill talk to him. might just add a battery in the back. but would a 225 amp alternator be enough? or should i go bigger...?

If you have the space for an extra battery that would probably do the job, but upgraded alt would be much better, cleaner and get you the same place as long as the battery under the hood is strong.

With a 225 amp alternator your battery shouldnt even come into play. Running that high power of an alternator you could just run your power for the amp right off the alternator so the battery does not work so hard. Most car's electrical systems only call for around 70amps peak(headlights, heat, wipers, and such all on at once) which would leave you with 120 amps or so to dedicate to your system. JL Audio 1000/1 only calls for 80 amps peak so you should be good with just a Big 3 and alternator upgrade. Only reason to put an extra battery would be to listen to your system for an extended period of time with the car not running.
