MECA Ruless???

I am planning on doing two MECA comps this year in the Amateur Street category and I was wondering how the put in you 1, 2, and 3. I was on their site and it said they use your inline fusing but if that's correct with my 120A fuse and 1 12 inch sub I'm going to be in AS2 even though I'm only running 600 watts atm.

The biggest thing in AS is that the car needs to be off. That will hurt you. If you can keep your voltage up you can run smaller fuses but with it off, you are on straight battery so your voltage will drop. You cant skimp too much on fuses in AS like you can in the other classes. And you need to play music.

Well the fusing on my amp right now is 30Ax2 so 60 amps, then my fuse at the battery is 120A. My sh!tty Kenwood is the only amp I'm running ATM but will be upgraded to an AQ1200D that has 40Ax3 so that will match my fuse at the battery. I was just wondering in case I decide to enter the local MECA this Saturday what class I would be in.

I'm going with a Deka Intimidator battery to help keep voltage up and I think I'll leave the 120A and just wait to compete until I'm done with the car.

IT will go by the fuse closest to your amp. If you have a 120 on everything and say an 80 on your amp then it will go by that 80. What is the fuse closest to your amp.
actually, it has to be 18" or less from the amp for the subs. Any other fusing for mid/high amps dont matter.

then the fuse you are going to be judged on is 60 amps.

So I'm judged on the fusing in the amp?
if thats what you want to use....or put a fuse within 18" of the amp and that value would be used. Your call.

You could always put in smaller fused in your amp and have a straight run to the battery. Basically they take the lowest rated fusing closest to the internal power supply of the amp. If they don't say something to the judge. WTF would be appropriate. I should know, i'm a former MECA judge.
