Expert Input Needed

I have a classic 1971 Camaro that I need to get some tunes in. My idea is to not cut anything in the car. I want to have my IPod on the console with a cable that plugs into the headphone jack, connected to an amplifier (300 watts?) located in the trunk, driving a pair of bookshelf speakers located on the backseat. When I'm detailing or at car shows I can locate the speakers (long wires tucked into seat back when on the seat) on the roof of the car.

Questions:

Will the IPod headphone output drive the signal to the trunl location or is line loss too great?

Which amplifier do you wizards recommend?

For the love of god, please don't just throw a pair of bookshelf speakers on the back seat.

An iPod supplies plenty of power for an amplifier's input

lol, book shelf speakers in a 71 camaro? Is it primer painted with a 2" roll cage too? I love F bodies, especialy of that gen, PLEASE for the love that car, do it right.

Thanks to a great forum member who took the time to help a new guy, I will be going with carpeted 6X9 enclosures, kick *** 6X9's, IPOD Interface and trunk mounted amp. This is exactly what I was looking to accomplish. Just goes to show you that there are decent people on this forum. And some not so decent people.

I'm sorry, but a pair of bookshelf speakers thrown in the back seat is truly a bad idea. A set of comps glassed into some kick panels would easily be removable should you want to return the car to completely stock; They would also provide a very nice listening experience.
