Expert Advice Needed Please

I have a classic 1971 Camaro that I need to get some tunes in. My idea is to not cut anything in the car. I want to have my IPod on the console with a cable that plugs into the headphone jack, connected to an amplifier (300 watts?) located in the trunk, driving a pair of bookshelf speakers located on the backseat. When I'm detailing or at car shows I can locate the speakers (long wires tucked into the seat back when located on the seat) on the roof of the car.

Questions:

Will the IPod headphone output drive the signal to the trunk location or is the line loss too great?

Which amplifier do you recommend?

Thanks much in advance for your help.

Don't want to ***** rig anything. Looking to get flexibility of speaker locations without cutting holes in doors, package shelf etc. In my view that would hurt the value of the car. I want to locate an amplifier under the package shelf in the trunk (sheet metal structure for mounting) connected to good bookshelf speakers on the back seat.

This car only goes out a few times a year but when I'm out I need tunes. Don't need FM, CD Sat etc. Plenty of music on my IPod.

If you can suggest a better way of achieveing the goals I'm all ears.

Yeah get all the home audio you can find and put it in your trunk. You will have super sound. And hook amp to your ipod. lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

nice advice myfartstink, way to help someone else out yet again. you do know you can just slit your wrist anytime.

don't lesson to just anyone with a screw driver

maybe a CD changer in the trunk with an RF modulator? The stock radio works correct?
Does that year have that one center speaker in the middle of the dash?
the rf modulator ran back into the trunk should do it, and would not be ghetto rigged or w/e you want to call it. all nice and neat.

Yes, origional radio is a single speaker (dash) AM radio. I want to leave this to maintain value of the car. Bookshelf speakers would be 8 ohm. have no problems doing what is necessary to get sould in the car but do not want to cut dash, doors or package shelf. A sincere "Thanks" for your interest and help.

Don't really kow what is meant by "sharing a grommet" but any wiring that I install could be removed to make car all origional again.
